Gordon Mackenzie

Director

Gordon is a founding director of Performance First. He is a highly regarded Change Agent, HR/OD Consultant, leadership and team specialist and Executive Coach. He is also the author of a range of performance tools including Performance Climate Survey® and Leadership360®.

With a wealth of hands-on International experience He has worked in over 25 different countries. Most recently he delivered a transformation programme for an International Oil company and working with Boston Consulting Group to design and deliver leadership and coaching programmes for a Saudi Ministry and a Global News Network. Gordon has also worked with Mckinsey & Co and to design a new set of values, performance management and competency framework for a Middle East Banking Group. Other interventions include: Axa, British Airways, BUPA, Deutsche Bank, EDF Energy, Google, Honda F1 Team, Legal & General, Subaru World Rally Team Thomson Reuters, Unilever, Virgin and Zurich.

Gordon joined the Royal Marines after a short time as an Parachute Regiment reservist and as a young Commando Officer he learned early some life lessons about leadership, building teams and how to motivate people to do things they may never have dreamed possible. Leading teams in arduous environments from the desert to the arctic, and at the age of just 26 Gordon was Staff Intelligence Officer to the Naval Commander on Operation Desert Storm. He describes his time in the Marines as incredible learning experience and foundation on which to build his career.

On leaving the Marines, Gordon set up and led a highly successful Training and Development enterprise for the NHS before joining an International Management Consultancy where he focused on Organisation Change and Strategic HR. He went on to roles in Change for a financial services organization and as European Head of Learning for ICI

A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, Gordon has an MBA from Warwick Business School. He is a qualified TMSDI and SDI master trainer, EFQM Assessor, NLP Practitioner, BPS Accredited and is completing a Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy and Stress Management and Resilience.

In his spare time Gordon is a passionate diver and photographer and loves nothing more than to be underwater exploring remote coral reefs or swimming with sharks.
